From 1 October 2008 landlords are required to provide an Energy Performance Certificate when they rent out a home. An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) gives information on the energy efficiency of a property you want to let. From 1 April 2019 EPCs must have a minimum rating of E.
What does this mean?
You need to provide an EPC whenever a home or business is let is let to a new tenant..
You must make the EPC available free of charge to prospective tenants at the earliest oppurtunity.
EPC's are valid for 10 years and can be reused as many times as required within that period.
